Finally, and probably the most painful, refrain from using Teacher-Made templates. By doing that, you can edit it in a PDF editor and then screenshot it so your teacher can still grade it! (If it makes you more comfortable, leave a comment in the "Student Comments" box that says you did the assignment in a PDF editor and screens hotted it word :) ) When I did this with my assignment, it came back with a perfect TurnItIn score. Furthermore, if you can, take screenshots of the template you'd like to use if it is a PDF file and place them into Word or Google Docs. a title page like, "1.04 Assignment"), remove it from the template before you do anything! For me, the cover page was what was picked up by TurnItIn as plagiarism. If the template you downloaded from your teacher HAS a cover page (ex. ![]() So, here's some suggestions I have so you can keep your TurnItIn score low (and your stress levels lower). Unfortunately, no where does it say on FLVS's site or in welcome calls that we should refrain from using these types of programs to do our work. TurnItIn does not recognize TEXT BOXES that were EDITED onto a paper or template ONLINE. A mental breakdown and ruined morning later, I brought up the fact that I had used an online PDF editor to add text. In a panic, I called her and she told me I was flagged by TurnItIn. It was suggested by Google Docs after downloading a template and I needed to edit the PDF for the template, so this was perfect! After doing the work and submitting it, the next morning, bright and early (6:30am early.) I got an email from my teacher asking me to call her. So for me, I used an online PDF editor called Lumin PDF. So I've noticed lots and lots of posts regarding claims of cheating and high TurnItIn scores, I've also had an experience with it and would like to share what I learned. ![]()
